February 2026
The lake has been lightly fished again this year. This year’s flooding was 3 months later, along with a lot of the surrounding areas. With the winter platforms in place, this will allow dry fishing, once you have waded to them.
No further fish were stocked this year to allow existing stock to push forward. With several 30lb+ fish out this year backed up by some cracking high 20`s, April/May should reveal some surprises. With a light feeding program we aim to grow healthy good looking fish.
The aerator has been on standby but not needed this year and we continue to monitor the dissolved oxygen levels regularly.
Weed has as always been a problem, and without the manpower/volunteers to continually rake it out, we have had to look at an alternative solution. This spring will see the lake dye used to reduce light penetration through the water, topped up again. This did not seem to affect either the fish or the fishing as reported? This should help to prevent the weed from growing as much. This will probably be backed up by a Siltex (calcium carbonate) application later in the winter/early spring.
